The Pre-Residency application includes several questions, including two essay questions and a request for a copy of your educational transcript, official or unofficial. If you are accepted, you’ll be asked to share an official copy with GVSU. You will want to have access to your unofficial transcript and essay responses before starting the application.
The essay questions for the application are below. Please answer one of the two prompts in no more than 500 words. Please include your name on your uploaded documents.
- What experiences - personal, professional, and/or educational - have shaped your motivation to pursue a teaching career in West Michigan? Please address your interest in the content and grade level to which you are applying.
- Successful teachers are lifelong learners. They look for ways to learn and grow from feedback, failure, setbacks and challenges. Please share an example of a time in which you experienced a failure or faced a significant setback. How did you approach the situation and what did you learn from it?
Your application will be reviewed by our team and qualified candidates will be contacted to continue in the selection process.
If you have other questions before starting the application process, please fill out this short form and someone will get back to you. If you'd like to schedule a phone conversation with Morgan Dailey, West Michigan Teacher Collaborative Coordinator, follow this link.
